too much tv...

Been a few months.  Lot's of the same ol' going on.  But we recorded for a split with Kicking Spit with Brian Hamilton, Mikey went back to school, and we've played some rad shows.  Scott Rideout from Genesis Climber has been filling in and doing wonderfully.  Got some shows coming up including

Lot's o' great bands coming out of the woodwork for this one.  Don't sleep!

We're playing with Fuzzy Cloaks at Mama Buzz on Wednesday June 21 too.  Great dudes from the Pharmacy - and they might have a wah smoke machine pedal.  Stay tuned!

In other news,  Huff Stuff Magazine are pretty much readily available.  Recorded by Brian Hamilton and mastered by yours truly, there's about 7 or 8 songs, maybe 9, that we recorded and rerecorded, remixed, etc., finally to be done.  Also, Dead Broke Rekerds is putting out a discography of Barker and mine's old band, Jean Claude Jam Band.  Listen to it here!

Writing new songs, getting em ready for that full length...

Same ol' same ol'...

Back From Tour, New 7", News and Upcoming Shows

We're back!  To state the obvious, thanks to all the help that everyone gave us.  Too many to crucial houses and people to name and I hope to see all of you in the future.  Check your mailboxes for some beer box postcards from Oakland.

Right before we left we got our 300 7"s from Palimino Records (for all of you looking for a good, friendly, cheap pressing plant I highly recommend them) and we still have a good amount left.  Hand crafted art and three songs for your mass consumption.  You can purchase them at the all new Orifice Dorm Store section of the blog.

Mikey's still in town and we'll be rehearsing and recording new songs.  Two are going to come out on an upcoming split with Kicking Spit.  One of them will be a cover of a Kicking Spit song like the Mudhoney/Sonic Youth Sub Pop singles split, and the other a new original that hasn't been recorded yet.  Will it see the light of the day? Hopefully!  Plus our full length will be finished and recorded soon...

Got some shows while Mikey's back too.  Number one is next week with The Goochi Boyz, Pacific Pride, and that hillbilly fuck King Lollipop.  Check the flyer for more info.  Then after that Uzi Rash goes on tour for a week with Unnatural Helpers and we get back to play Summer Bummer and Total Trash.
See you dickheads soon!

-More shows coming up in the future that include a benefit for A.N.S./Acts Of Sedition's stolen gear

-Here's the Art Zine Adam and I put together entitled Orifice Dorm - Fickle Sponge.  8 or so pages of late night collage drawings from four fucked up minds.  Paypal $3 to knifeyspoonyband@gmail.com to get a copy.

Nude Year

-Thanks to everyone who came out to the east coast shows.  They ruled.  Nude Beach were great.  Now Denial were great.  Big Eyes were great.  Diastema tape is really good.

-Recorded with Ben at Python Patrol.  Some old jammers and some new ones.  7inch will be out by the summer.  It sounds fucking sweet.

-Playing a FREE Matinee show as part of the Bender festival at Slabtown in Portland, OR on Saturday February 5th.  Uzi Rash, Bad Trips, Junior's Gang, and Trash TV are playing too.  ITS FREE SO COME HANG!

-We're playing a few shows with Uzi Rash on the way up to the Bender.  Check the shows section for details.

-We've sold out of the Animal Pleasures demo.  A new demo will be out soon with some new songs that will be coming out on the 7inch and some oldies.

-I played bass on a new Uzi Rash record I was 30 in 2012 that should be coming out in the next few months along with a bunch of other new material.  Go visit the Reverend for more info.

-Adam Opet and I are working on a weird art zine that will be available for the trip up to Portland.

-Mikey's hair is finally long.

-Maximum Rock 'N' Roll liked Animal Pleasures.

In spite of existing right in my backyard, I avoided this band because their name suggested that they play ironic cutesy nonsense, but am kicking myself now because this goddamn rules.  They play fringe, party/adventure music (in a good way) that fuses a number of influences, but I hear everything from out-there garage garage to bratty punk to Neil Young to the earliest Nirvana stuff to the same '70s rock records that Black Flag took cues from later on.  Despite the many sounds, this band knows how to write good songs regardless.  Five originals and a John Fogerty cover.

Thanks for the good review Dan.  You hit too many nails on the head.
